Zai Jie was an Immortal who was part of an effort by a cadre of Immortals to find the location of the mysterious Source.
In the post-apocalyptic world of the movie, he came to believe he found it in Eastern Europe, and broke into a data tower from which he could make contact with Methos, Reggie Weller, and Cardinal Giovanni.
He told them what he had found, but he was followed by The Guardian, and beheaded after a duel, his Quickening was absorbed by The Guardian.
