Synopsis[]
Duncan receives a visit from an old friend, Hugh Fitzcairn. Fitzcairn informs him that several immortals have gone missing recently, and that he thinks something isn't right.
When Darius is killed in his church, they know that it isn't the work of another immortal, so they vow to avenge Darius by finding who is responsible. Duncan learns from an old book he finds in Darius' church of a secret group called the Watchers who observe immortals and record their battles.
Tessa has a close encounter with the leader of a splinter group of Watchers who think immortals are abominations and must be killed. James Horton and his men later kidnap Fitz, and Duncan must race to find them before it's too late. He arrives just in time to rescue Fitz, but Horton and the hunters escape.

Story Notes[]
- Fitzcairn was originally going to die in this episode. Roger Daltrey preferred flashbacks to modern day plots and agreed to appear in flashbacks if his character died. However, the sudden illness and death of Werner Stocker forced the episode to be rewritten. Footage of Darius that was already filmed was still used in the episode.
- Fitzcairn says his Quickening will be wasted if he’s killed by mortals, marking the first mention of this in the series.
