
A Watcher, she was recruited out of Catholic University School of Nursing in 1970. She ranked second in her class at the Watcher Academy. Her skills included Battlefield medicine, agriculture and irrigation, midwifery, diplomacy, and the languages English, French, Vietnamese, Khmer, Somali, Croatian, and Arabic. Her career consisted of a series of Special Assignments:
- 1972 - 1983: South East Asia --Reporting on Duncan MacLeod when he was in Cambodia in 1975.
- 1984 - 1991: West Africa
- 1991 - 2001: Balkans
- 2002 - present: Afghanistan
