Martin Matthews was a watcher, he was recruited by Debra Adkins and served as an historian from 1989 to 1990. Then he got his first field assignment with Frankie Fabiano from 1990 to 1993.
He was then transferred to the Immortal, Amanda, watching her from 1993 to 1995. When she was abducted by Kalas, Matthews apparently discovered the man's lair, and knew where to look for the disc containing the prototype Watcher/Immortal database records Kalas had stolen. He returned there on his own, and Kalas killed him upon discovery.
His name was added to the Hall of Martyrs memorial, and his actions dictated a change in Watcher policy regarding to proper use of cell phones in the field.
