Lord Kuza Dănut was the adopted child in a family in which has wealth and powerful parents who have five biological sons and three daughters. Enjoying the luxuries of the their wealth and power of the "Bertram" name but tiring of the overseeing of the tending the kennels of the hunting dogs and other mundane duties around the family estate. He would use his money to purchase a ship and crew and then travel the world. Ultimately his ship would meet that of Robert de Valicourt's at sea. His ship was boarded when he was killed.
Realizing his men killed one of his own kind, Robert brought Dănut below, where he wait waiting and ready to educate him in the Immortal life and The Game. The two would enjoy a century of pirate life on land and sea alike, crossing paths with many known pirates including Sir Francis Drake and Blackbeard. When both men had amassed suitable (and somewhat competing fortunes), they parted ways amicably. Both had learned to enjoy life.
Long past a life at sea, by 1795, Dănut had established himself as Lord of Bukowina in Romania. He had hired a guard of mercenaries and murdered the previous Lord, taking his wife Catriona as his own both as a showing of power to the masses and his right to rule. He would eventually come at odds with the resident Immortal Hans Kershner, and would seal Dănut's fate.
