A nomadic tribesman of the bronze age, he was Cassandra's foster parent and teacher. He found her when she was a baby and raised her as his own. According to Cassandra, Hijad sensed her otherness from the beginning. He taught her herb lore and his so-called magic - chants and prayers to be said when administering healing.
When the Four Horsemen raided their encampment, he recognized them. When confronted by Kronos, he defied him, and said that they had nothing the Horsemen could want. Kronos then told him he would die. Cassandra threw herself between Hijad and Kronos' blade and died for the first time.
When she revived, her people, including Hijad, were all dead, her encampment destroyed.
