A member of the Clan MacLeod, and cousin to Connor MacLeod.
In 1528, in celebration of Connor's 10th birthday, Dougal caught a salmon for him to eat.
When Connor later suffered mortal wounds in the battle with the Frasers and did not die, the villagers, including his wife and cousin, Dougal, believed his recovery was the work of witchcraft and threatened to burn him at the stake. Dougal, especially called for Connor’s death, and viciously beat his cousin. Angus MacLeod, however, pulled Connor away from Dougal and had Connor banished instead.
