Meeting his death as a part of Sigurd Slembe and Magnus the Blind army during the Battle of Holmengrå, his misfortune turned into fortune, as his killer, Silas, became his teacher and father figure for two decades. Traveling with Silas and the other member of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, a new way of life was unlocked to Dorin.

Eventually, the other Horsemen persuaded Silas to part with his "playmate", and Dorin was cast out to find his own way. There existed many accounts that both Silas and Dorin would look fondly back on and greatly mourn their lost friendship.

Dorin would marry a Gypsy woman in the outskirts of Romania, and live an unassuming life in the wilderness for 14 years, raising three children, not his own, until he was unable to stop a party of raiders who raped and butchered the townsfolk, then burned the village to the ground.

Rising from the ashes of another death, Dorin would attempt in vain to drink himself to death at a local tavern until the fateful day that Keric Njål discovered him on a recruitment run.

Being a feared and renown member of the Armas of Prince Vlad Dracula III would give Dorin a new purpose in life.
