A member of the Watchers, as a former thief and con artist, Quinlan possessed many skills of use to the oraganization. Clever, observant, and good at operating without notice, he, like many, came into the organization seeking refuge and a new life.
Quinlan had been working as apprentice to jewel thief, Grover Durward Crispin, who happened to be Immortal. After seeing Crispin die and revive, Quinlan found himself confused and on the run from the police.
It turned out to be the perfect moment for the Watchers to enter his life. Quinlan was quickly recruited, and advanced the academy at an accelerated pace.
